Firstly, my deepest sympathy goes out to the Gerry Doughty family.

Following a small accident while attending a family wedding in Birmingham where he bumped the side of his head getting into a car after the church ceremony, he had a series of episodes:- dizziness, headaches, memory loss etc.

Following a number of tests his doctors diagnosed bleeding on the brain and treated the condition accordingly with medication.

Gerry had been suffering for sometime and at one point even improved., but
Sadly, Gerry has passed away and leaves two daughters “Verity and Beth” who he doted on.

A fellow Brummie and a true gentleman at the poker felt he will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

Had a good week in Scotland, which in the end proved to be poker free as my dongle (Vodaphone) failed to work and even after getting the software update failed to provide me with any internet facility.

Had a couple of games of golf at the Newton Stewart championship golf course and went mountain biking on a couple of purpose built courses, returning from one outing looking like the abdominal mud man, I was absolutely baked in it but enjoyed the excitement of the day.

We also ventured out to the “Mull of Galloway” this being the most southerly point of Scotland with some fantastic views over the Irish sea enabling you to see the Isle of Man and the Irish coast line some 25/30 miles away.

We stayed in a place called conifers lodges in Newton Stewart and would well recommend this with all our needs catered for in the log cabin, the only thing missing was an internet connection but they are looking into that.

Also ventured up to Turnberry one of the days and what a fantastic course that looks to be, would like to play it one day.
